Robert “Bob” P. Hanko 76 passed away Saturday November 23, 2013 in Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. He was born July 10, 1937 in Racine the son of Robert E. and Helen M. (nee Vallner) Hanko. Bob married Helen Jean Doonan on July 19, 1958 in Racine. He was a truck driver for Domanik’s Distribution Center for 30 years retiring in 1990. He was also proud to serve his Country in the Marine’s. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. Survivors include his loving wife Helen, 3 children; Robert J. (Kim) Hanko, Scott T. Hanko and Debra M. (John Sabo III) Hanko, 2 grandchildren; Danielle and Robert J. Hanko, and 4 great grandchildren. Bob is also survived by a sister Helen Marie Schilg, 3 sisters-in-law; Irene Johnson, Beverly Doonan, and Gloria Doonan, special niece and nephew Jim and Krista Lictenheld, and very special friends; Salvatore and Jo Marano, Bill and Denise Eppler, Jim and Diane Glieter, and his canine companion “Hunter”. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be held on Monday December 2, 2013 at 7 p.m. in Strouf Funeral Home. Friends may gather Monday from 6 pm in the funeral home until the services. The family would like to thank Dr. Martini and his staff, the staff of Wheaton Franciscan ICU and the staff of Lincoln Lutheran for all the kindness shown to Bob and his family. In lieu of flowers, the family will announce a memorial later. When attending the services, casual dress is suggested.;
