Richard Avila, 70, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at his home.  He was born in Elkhorn, WI on May 15, 1948 to Margarito and Antonia (nee: Ibarra) Avila.  He married Eileen Salas in Texas in 1977.  Richard was a college graduate and worked at a service station.  He enjoyed fishing, gardening, yard work, watching game shows, and his favorite was “The first 48 hours”.  He loved his dogs, especially his current companion “Dollar” and watching the Packers.  Richard also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.  He will be deeply missed by his wife Eileen, his 8 children Bobbie Jo Salas (Johnny Travis), Julio Ocanas (Amanda Thomas Ocanas), Jesse Ocanas (Thisbe Ortiz), Susan Salinas (Elias Canales), Margie (Joe) Pedrosa, Mary Avila (Jeff Ludwig); Angelita Avila and Crystal Gomez, 7 siblings Sofia (Jesse) Morales – Racine; Margie (Domingo) Servantez – Pasadina, TX; Dolores (Mike) Camp – Aledo, TX; Marc Avila – Union Grove; Carol (Robert) Fuentes – Ft. Worth, TX; Danny (Rosemary) Avila – Racine; Phillip (Charlene) Avila – Racine.  He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, special sister-in-law Elizabeth and best friend Cathy Zittle. He was preceded in death by Margarito Avila, Antonia Zavala, sister-in-law Debbie Avila. Services will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in Strouf Funeral Home (1001 High Street).  The family will receive guests in the funeral home on Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.  Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
