MAUREEN CATHERINE PHELPS, 51, passed away at her home on Friday, February 6, 2015. She was born February 18, 1963 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Edward J. and Donna M. (nee: Gabbey) Phelps. Maureen lived and worked in Racine for many years, and obtained an Associate’s Degree from Gateway College in 1984. Her life’s journey lead her to various career positions in Maryland and Kansas City, MO. Survivors include her loving mother Donna Phelps; two sisters, Mary Ann (Phil) Churchill, and Christine Tobin; two brothers, Edward Phelps, and John (Argentina) Phelps; three nephews, Cameron Churchill, Connor Churchill and Patrick Tobin; and one niece, Megan Tobin. Maureen is survived by many other relatives, including aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, all who loved her and cared for her deeply.Throughout her school years, Maureen was a very talented athlete, particularly in track and field. Many of her records still stand today. Recently, Maureen generously participated in many acts of humanitarianism, including tutoring students for the School’s of Hope Reading Program and home health care for the elderly. Maureen enjoyed spending time with family and friends, at the beach, boating, and sailing. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, and artistic drawing. She had a passion for pets, particularly her dog Diamond. Maureen had great affection for her niece and nephews, Kansas City, and the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals.A private service will be held for family and friends.
