Maria Antonia Castaneda, 57, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. Maria was born February 3, 1966 in Mexico, the daughter of Aureliano and Maria (Nee: Rivera) Castaneda. Maria loved working at the Racine YMCA. She also loved to listen to music and could be found dancing and singing as she went about her day. She loved spending time with her friends, but most of all she really loved and cherished the time with her grandchildren. Maria will be deeply missed by her mother Maria, stepmother Natalia, her children Cecilia Castaneda, Selso Hernandez-Castaneda and Alejandro Hernandez-Castaneda. She will also be missed by her grandchildren Junior, Isabella, Selso,Jr. and Sarahi, along with her siblings Luis, Ricardo, Veronica, Cesar, Cecilia, Rafael, Jorge, Sylvia, Raul and Rosangela and many cousins and family members. She was preceded in death by her father, sister Lupe and brother Juan. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1100 Erie Street at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, June 7,2023. The family will receive guests at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.
