Leroy J. Dahlen 90 passed away Saturday evening April 19, 2014 in Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. He was born June 3, 1923 in Racine the son of Clarence and Florence (nee: Pfeiffer) Dahlen. Leroy married Lois Ann Seitz on November 28, 1946 in St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church. After attending Horlick High School, he served his Country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Leroy worked at MariGold Dairy for 25 years until it closed and then retired from InSinkErator after 11 years. He was a long time member of St. John Nepomuk Parish where he had been active in the Holy Name Society. Leroy was a member of American Legion Post 310, the InSinkErator 10 year club, and he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, watching sports and fishing. He will be sadly missed by his devoted wife Lois, 7 loving children; Gary (Chris) Dahlen, Dennis (Kathy) Dahlen, Diane (Merl) Johnson, Jim (Joan) Dahlen, Tom (Nancy) Dahlen, Chuck Dahlen, and Steve (Marilyn) Dahlen, 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, his brother Joe Dahlen, and a brother-in-law Jim Cox. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, his step mother Pearl Dahlen, a great granddaughter Molly Dybdahl, a sister Cecelia Cox, and a sister-in-law Marnie Dahlen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday April 24, 2014 at 10:30 am in St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church 1903 Green St. Fr. Don Zirkel officiating. Entombment with Military Honors will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery Garden Crypts on Hwy. 32. The family will greet guests in Strouf Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m with a parish vigil at 6:45 pm. Further viewing will continue on Thursday in church from 10 am until the start of Mass. Memorials may be made to St. John Nepomuk Parish in Leroy’s name.
