Johanna Alena Sander, 95, of Racine, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Lakeshore at Siena in Racine, Wisconsin. She was born on August 21,1925 in Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Hans and Josephine Kowar.  Johanna graduated college in 1944 with her mechanical textile degree. Towards the end of World War II, Johanna met and married U.S. soldier Robert Paul Sander, Sr. from New York, N.Y. She Johanna married Robert Paul Sander Sr. She moved to America and became a U.S. citizen and raised her two sons Robert and Ray in Kenosha, Wisconsin.  She loved spending time outdoors skiing, ice skating, and she was an avid swimmer. She swam a mile a day for the last 30 years. Johanna was an artistic and creative person who spent many hours with her grandkids doing art.  She especially enjoyed knitting. Johanna will be deeply missed by her loving family and is survived by her son Robert (Nancy) Sander, grandchildren Carrie, Lisa, Michael, Robb and Jo along with great grandchildren Courtney, Garrett, Madison and great-greatgrandchildren Brynle. Johanna is preceded in death by Mother and Father, Husband Robert, Sister Ine Weiss and Son Ray Sander.  Johanna’s request was to be cremated and reunited with her family in Europe.
