Evalyn E. Proska, — passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016 in The Woods of Caledonia. She was born Jan. 27, 1924 in Racine, the daughter of Paul and Frieda (Nee: Mundstock) Groenke. She married Edward E. Proska Sr. on August 10, 1946 in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Racine. Ed passed away May 29, 2008. A matron for the Racine Co. Sheriff’s Dept. Evalyn loved to do oil painting, ceremics, crochet and knit. She also loved to do all sorts of crafts and go fishing whenever she had the chance. She will be deeply missed by her 3 children, Edward (Patricia) Proska, Nancy (Shane) Hill and Marvin Proska, along with 7 grandchildren, Cynthia (Mark) Kautzmann, Jeremy Leslie, April (Ray) Wiggins, Mary (Rich) Johnson, Susan (Dan) Blaski, Laura (Soni) Proska-Singh, and Tiffany (Marcel) Franz. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, 1 sister Marguerite Weber and a special god-child Sue Beres, along with other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Evalyn was predeceased in death by her parents, her husband Ed, a daughter Darlene Leslie, 1 grandchild Shane Hill and 2 sisters LaVerne Szalay, Ruth Kannenberg . A funeral service will be held Tuesday Oct. 4, 2016 at 11 am in Strouf Funeral Home. The family will receive guests on Tuesday in the funeral home from 10 am until the time of service. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park.
