Arlene L. Nielsen

Arlene L. Nielsen 88 formerly of Racine, passed away Monday morning April 7, 2014 in Life Care Hospital in Pewaukee after a long illness. She was born May 1, 1925 in Racine the daughter of Peter J. and Mary (nee: Tesness) Bakken. Arlene married Knud Herluf Nielsen on September 23, 1946 in Marvin, SD. He passed away December 17, 1975. She was a homemaker and loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed. She enjoyed playing cards with her daughters, crocheting and embroidery, and especially spending time with her family. Survivors include her two daughters Karla ( Dominic) Ruffalo and Karen (Anthony) D’Alie, 10 grandchildren, Travis (Kellie) Ptaschinski, Sara Ptaschinski, Connie (Tommy) Friedrich, Holly Thompson, Samuel (Britani) D’Alie, Angela D’Alie, Anthony “Ole” (Amber) D’Alie, Jenna D’Alie, Raelin D’Alie, and Vincent D’Alie, 13 great grandchildren,Christina, Jermiah, Arianna, Autumn, Tyler, BrookLyn, Aiden, Jaxon, Alivia, Tyson, Lynnae, Drew, and Tai’ler, and her dear and loving brother Marlowe ( Soapy) Bakken. Arlene is further survived by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Linda Nielsen, 3 sisters Ellen Anderson, Olga Nelson, Helen Mitchell, and 4 brothers, Orville, Jergen, Dick, and Elmer Bakken. Funeral Services will be Saturday April 12, 2014 at 2 p.m. in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 2219 Washington Ave. Rev. Paul Rhodes of Harbor Rock Ministries, officiating. Burial will be Monday 10:30 a.m in Graceland Cemetery. (please meet at cemetery gate) Visitation will be Saturday from 12 noon until time of service in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Memorials may be made to the Billy Graham Ministries. The family would like to thank Dr. Jonathon Bock, and Dr. Stewart Wong both of Froedtert Hospital for their dignified and loving care of our mom.;
