Anthony R. “Tony” Martinez passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday evening, February 19, 2013 in his home. He was born September 21, 1965 in Racine. He was the son of Benito and Angelita (nee: Rangel) Martinez. Tony was a very talented musician and played in many different varieties of bands. He was amazing at playing the bass, guitar, keyboard and was also a great singer. Tony was a diehard Packer fan and also loved his Brewers. He enjoyed watching the show ”Goldrush”, he had a great sense of humor, was very generous and loved spending time with his family. Tony devoted his life to taking care of his mother, Angelita (Mama Bear) until the time of her death in 2010. Survivors include his brothers and sisters; Sue (David) Vela, Armando (Esther) Martinez, Angelita Martinez (Pilar Gomez), Albert Martinez, Linda (Jose) Jimenez, Mary Jane Martinez and Daniel Paul Martinez. 2 uncles; Francisco (Frances) Rangel, and Manuel (Gloria) Rangel. Tony is further survived by nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, and a very special niece Sandra Barroso, and many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention. Also his best friend, Gordy Flowers, who was more like a brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benito and Angelita, a sister Virginia, and 2 brothers, Benito and Luis. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 10:30 am in Word of Faith Family Church, 1734 Washington Ave. Pastor Manuel Lozano officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. The family will receive guests on Tuesday from 5-8 pm at Strouf Funeral Home, and on Wednesday in church from 10:00 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers donations will be greatly appreciated. ;
