Arthur “Ray” Gulbrandson, 89, passed away Saturday November 26, 2016 in his home. He was born in Ottawa IL. on September 19, 1927, the son of Arthur and Lillian (Nee: Johnson) Gulbrandson. Ray married Mary (Nee: Lucas) Gulbrandson February 7, 1970 in St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Racine WI. A high school graduate from Horlick High School, Ray was a Customer Service Engineer for IBM and retired in 1986. Ray was a proud veteran and served his country from 1950-1955 in the US Air Force. He loved woodworking and building model aircraft in his spare time. His biggest passion though, were trains, building models, watching them on the tracks, whatever he could do to see them, he was a true train enthusiast. Ray will be deeply missed by his wife Mary, 1 son Ron (Whitney) Gulbrandson, 4 grandchildren, Jonthan, Kristin, Austin, Allison along with 2 great-grandchildren Brianna and Jaxson. He is also survived by other nieces, nephew’s relatives and friends and his two special cats Nipper and Polly. Ray was predeceased by his parents, 2 children Penny and Jonathon and his 1st wife Doris. Funeral services will be held in Strouf Funeral Home Thursday December 1, 2016 at 11 am. The family will receive guests from 10 am until the time of service on Thursday December 1^st, 2016 inside the funeral home. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
