Frances Marie Helz 87 passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Monday afternoon August 12, 2013 in Ridgewood Care Center. She was born January 7, 1926 in Racine the daughter of William and Elenora (nee: Sieger) Mertens. Frances was married to Gerald F. Helz on August 28, 1948 in Sacred Heart Parish in Racine. She chose the most important career, being a homemaker and raising her children. Frances was also a long time member of Sacred Heart Parish. She enjoyed gardening, ice skating, taking photos and maintaining the albums, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Gerald, her loving children Carol (Robert) Twist, Janice Kopulos, Nancy (Stan Lasota) Castaneda, and Michael (Joyce) Helz, 8 grandchildren; Rachel, Renee, Genevieve, Anthony, Emily, Sarah, Christian, and Katie, 8 great grandchildren with 2 more to arrive soon, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers William and Anthony and an infant sister Lorraine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday August 16, 2013 at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Parish, 2201 Northwestern Ave., Fr. Ricardo Martin officiating. The family will receive guests in church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Committal Services will be Monday 11 a.m. at Southern Wisconsin Memorial Veterans Cemetery in the Town of Dover. Memorials of your choice in Frances’ honor would be appreciated.;
