Alan K. Niesen Sr. 79 passed away Friday afternoon September 5, 2014 in Boland Hall on the grounds of the Wisconsin Veterans Home in the Town of Dover. He was born March 22, 1935 in Racine the son of Arthur and Grace (nee: Voet) Niesen. Alan was united in marriage to Judith LaPointe on September 30, 1961 in Racine. A graduate of St. Catherine’s High School, Alan also graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He was employed with South West Metals as a chemical engineer retiring in 2002. Alan proudly served his Country in the U.S. Army, and was a charter member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Alan had been proud to be an Eagle Scout and was very active in sports while in high school at St. Catherine’s. As an adult he played tennis, handball, golf, and racquetball, enjoyed bicycling, and travel. Alan was always present for his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. Alan will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 53 years, Judy, his loving children Alan K. Niesen Jr. and Yvonne (Brent) Green, grandchildren Tara (Cody) Aston, Trent Niesen, Brennan, Devan, and Gavan Green, his brother Gary ( Maureen) Niesen, and a sister Barbara (Ted) Storheim. He was preceded in death by his parents, his nephew Chris Niesen, and a sister-in-law Sandy Niesen.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday September 13, 2014 at 10 a.m. in St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church 6400 Spring St., Fr. William Dietzler officiating. Burial with military Honors will be Monday at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 12 p.m. The family will receive guests on Friday from 5-7 p.m. in Strouf Funeral Home, and again on Saturday in St. Paul’s Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Memorials may be directed to the family on behalf of the WI Parkinsons Foundation. The family would like to thank his wonderful doctor who gave Alan outstanding care, Dr. Michael Rezak, and to the following for their patient and loving care given to Alan at the Veteran’s Home; Susan Lucas, Lee Schlesser, Jackie Rummell, Melissa Whigtman, Jackie L.
