Henry Wallace Conner Sr. passed away on Friday, June 2nd, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Macon, Ms. on August 25th, 1933 to the late Lacy Lee Conner Sr. and Vizella (nee. Calmes). He was the youngest of ten siblings. Mr. Conner was employed at J.I. Case (Tenneco) and retired in 1992 after 37 years of service. He later became self-employed and started Conner Hauling. Henry valued education and completed his high school diploma at Milwaukee Area Technical College. He then went to college and became a licensed tailor and bushel man. Henry was also a licensed superb chef, talented billiards player, gardener, and mixologist. He was a member of the quartet group known as Wings of Joy. He lived a full and colorful life, with an infectious laugh. He was also known for his servitude to others, by feeding the hungry and visiting the sick. He was very charismatic and a sharp dresser who had a love for hats. He was known by many names “Jack” “Hank” “Bo-Dollars” “Sugar” “Scuttlebuck” and in his last days “Head Rooster.” When asked what his greatest accomplishment was in life. He replied, that his children were his greatest joy. Mr. Conner confessed Christ at an early age at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church located in Isola, MS under the leadership of Pastor Ross Joyner. He relocated at the age of 17 to Beloit, WI where he immediately joined Pentecostal Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C under the leadership of Elder Louis Ertel. He then moved to Racine, WI where him, his wife and five others helped to established Grace Temple Church. He found his permanent church home at Parkway Apostolic Church, in Oak Creek, WI where he served in many capacities. Henry loved the Lord and was Holy-Ghost filled. Mr. Conner is survived by his siblings; Lilly Ernestine Clark of Gary, IN, Pastor Tennyerson (Hettie) Conner of Beloit, WI, Lorena Bernice Carter of Madison, WI. His children; Henry Jr (Valerie) Conner of Burnsville, MN, James Conner and Martha Conner of Milwaukee, WI, Larry Goodwin of Racine, WI, Gigi (Bruce) Oliver of Racine, WI, Jerry Morris of Racine, WI, Charmaine (Ernest) Taylor of Cordova, TN, and lifelong companion Jewelene Morris. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Conner was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Lacy Lee, Jesse, Willie Joe Conner, and Walter Conner-Murry. His sisters: Willie Lee Conner and Leillar Smith-Edwards. Son: Billy Conner and Ex-Wife: Jamilla Conner. A Home going Celebration will be held for Henry on Saturday June 10, 2017 at 11 am in the Christian Faith Fellowship Church (3303 Nicholson Rd. Franksville) Pastor Willie Scott officiating. The family will receive guests Friday in the funeral home from 5-7 pm and again Saturday in church from 10 am until the time of service. Burial will be Monday June 12, 2017 in Graceland Cemetery at 10 am.
