Thomas W. Poulsen

Thomas W. Poulsen 71 passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning November 24, 2013 in Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. He was born July 27, 1942 in Racine the son of Roy R. and Mildred A. (nee:Tobias) Poulsen. Tom married Karen R. Ottosen on October 9, 1965 in Racine. He had been employed as a systems analyst for J.I. Case before retirement. Tom proudly served his Country in the U.S. Navy and was a long time member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where he was active on the church council, taught Sunday School, was an usher, a member of the Altar Guild, and the Education Committee among many others. He collected cars and enjoyed all aspects of owning and working on them. Survivors include his loving wife Karen, his two sons; Brian (Courtney) Poulsen and Kevin (Nora McMahon) Poulsen, his newborn grandson Wyatt, a sister Lois (Fred) Funk and his mother-in-law Dorothy Gain. Tom is further survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Buddy. Funeral Services will be Wednesday November 27, 2013 at 1 pm in Strouf Funeral Home, Pastor Jane Fryda officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. The family will receive guests on Tuesday from 6-7 pm in the funeral home.;
