His dry sense of humor, friendship, good nature, willingness to help others and practical approach to problem solving will be greatly missed. He connected so easily with so many and his sudden passing will leave a big hole in many of our lives. Our thoughts, prayers and hearts go out to Sarah and the rest of Steve’s family.

First thing you say when people said you knew Steve, “Man, I love Steve Hale.” That’s the best way to describe a great guy. He always was friendly and loved what he did. Prayers go out to his family.
Steve was more than a boss—he was a mentor, a friend, and someone who truly believed in people. I had the privilege of working for Steve at Northwestern Mutual for many years, and during that time, he gave me opportunities that allowed me to grow and excel quickly. Even after I was laid off, Steve welcomed me back without hesitation, showing the kind of loyalty and faith in others that defined him. When the world shut down during the 2020 pandemic, Steve and I worked side by side as essential workers, helping countless people navigate uncertain times. Through it all, he never lost his sense of humor—always ready to crack a joke to lighten the mood—but he also knew when it was time to be serious and lead with strength. Steve was a family-first man who cared deeply about the company and the people around him. His leadership, kindness, and ability to make everyone feel valued left an impact that will never be forgotten. I’m grateful for the trust he placed in me and the friendship we shared. He will be deeply missed.
Dear Hale Family,
We are saddened to hear of Steve’s sudden passing.
Since the days of Meadowview and PJ and Alex playing soccer (even though baseball was his true love) Steve has always been there to offer his support and of course a quick joke. I always looked forward to his texts after losing another contest on B&B, and learning the truth about Corvette Ron.
We hope that the wonderful memories you have will help you get through this difficult time. Sending you all are deepest condolences and the biggest hugs.

Absolutely gutted when I heard this news, I have worked with Steve directly since I joined NM 12 years ago, often seeing him daily. He was an amazing human being, the drive and quality he took with his work, and the fun light hearted joking banter we shared daily will be greatly, greatly missed. There are literally hundreds of posts on our internal page remembering Steve and sharing in the grief. My heart goes out to his family and friends.
