Shirley R. Saltys 85 passed away Sunday afternoon October 18, 2015 in Lakeshore Manor after a long illness. She was born January 1, 1930 in Racine the daughter of Zenos and Ruth (nee: Hansche) Jones. Shirley married Anthony H. Saltys on October 12, 1963 in Waukegan, IL. He passed away March 26, 1990. She was employed over the years with Western Publishing and Webster Electric as well as being a homemaker. Shirley also volunteered over the years at St. Luke’s Hospital. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, attending craft fairs, playing bingo, and raising African Violets. Survivors include her son Randy Saltys and his companion and Shirley’s best friend, Janelle Rogers, 2 sisters; Nancy Klee and Mitzi (Ted) Karlsen along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Anthony, and a brother David Jones.
Funeral Services will be Friday October 23, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in Strouf Funeral Home, Rev. Melanie Hammond Clark officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. The family will greet guests on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home. Randy and Janelle wish to thank Lakeshore Manor and staff for their loving and dignified care of Shirley during her time with them.
