Phyllis C. Haas, 90, of Racine, was called home by her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 29, 2021. She was born on March 12, 1931 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Harvey Zimmerman and Hilda (Ptaschinski) Zimmerman. Phyllis married the love of her life, Richard E. Haas on July 2, 1949. Phyllis was on the Board of Directors for the Animal Welfare League and later was on the Board of Directors for Orphan Kanines. She served in a volunteer capacity for many, many years. Over the years, she adopted three senior dogs and gave them a good life in their golden years. Phyllis enjoyed making crafts and attended several craft shows through out the year to sell her goods, donating all the money she received to Orphan Kanines. She enjoyed shopping at the thrift shops every week, seeking the ever elusive treasure and where she could people watch at the same time. She was great at jigsaw puzzles and she loved to read. Phyllis will be deeply missed by her children; Linda Zawatzke, Randy (Tammy) Haas, and Gayle Uick. She will be deeply missed by her five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Hilda, husband Richard and sister June. Michael, grandma’s life was so much better because you were in it. A special thank you to caregivers Lynn S. and Vanessa F. You were amazing. And a heart felt thank you to Heartland Hospice of Kenosha for your endless compassion. And mom, YOU will always be my sunshine! A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at St. Rits’s Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Avenue at 11:am . The family will receive guests on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at the church from 10:30 am until the time of mass. Father Michael Petersen is officiating. Interment to follow at Southern Wisconsin Veteran Memorial Cemetery.
I knew you for a short time and I loved our lil conversations. They were always fun. Happy and free you are now.
Linda, Gayle & family…I’m so sorry to hear this. My mom Audrey and Phyllis were such good friends over the years. We will miss them both.
