Maria I. Vega, 88, of Racine, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 18, 1933 in Mexico. Born the daughter of Ysidro and Consuelo (Nee: Guzman) Villagomez. Maria married the late Abel C. Vega in 1950, celebrating 70 years of marriage before his passing in 2020. Maria was very creative; she enjoyed singing, sewing, and knitting. She was a devout Catholic and spent time in His word reading the bible. Maria will be dearly missed by her eleven children and thirty grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by a host of great-grandchildren. Maria is preceded in death by her parents Ysidro and Consuelo, and husband Abel. Funeral Mass for Maria will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at 12 p.m. They family will receive guests on Friday, February 11, 2022 at the church from 11 a.m. until time of mass. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
