Joseph F. Kaplan went home to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at the age of 87 from Ridgewood Care Center. He was born on July 25, 1933, the son of the late Edwin and Mamie (NEE: Olk) Kaplan.
On May 5, 1956, he was united in marriage to Elaine Clark, who preceded him in death on December 27, 2015. He served his country in the United States Navy and was employed Karten Medical Group for many years as a radiologist. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan, listened on the radio and the television.
Joseph is survived by his sister-in-law Judith Eppler, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends. As well as his precious canine, Peanut, whom he adored and cherished. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by five sisters, two brothers, and their spouses. One of the sisters, Josephine A. Barth was Joseph’s twin. He always teased Josephine by telling everyone he had to kick his sister to get out of the womb and into the world.
Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Sacred Heart (2201 Northwestern Avenue). The family will receive guest on Thursday, October 8, 2020 from noon until the time of service. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery (5600 Holy Cross Road).

I can’t exactly place where or when, but I remember seeing him repeatedly at, I want to say as an Usher in Church? I was a member of St. Joseph’s once upon a time. Is it possible that’s where? What I can’t forget is how his eyes would squint when he smiled from ear to ear. What I do remember about Joe was that he was kind, considerate, warm, welcoming and inviting to anyone whoever encountered him. May God hold him in the palm of his hand. Peace be with you.
