Dorothy J. Donaldson

DOROTHY J. DONALDSON 75 passed away Wednesday evening July 2, 2014 in Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. She was born June 28, 1939 in Etta, MS the daughter of I.O. and Ludie (nee Ivy) Pegues. Dorothy was an elementary school teacher with Racine Unified for 33 1/2 years, where she taught the Wright to Read program. She was a long time member of Greater St. Luke Baptist Church where she had served as church secretary. Dorothy enjoyed flowers, gardening, cooking, and shopping. Dorothy was a most loved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be missed by her children; Debra, Jackey, Tekeith, and Gary Wortham, Michael, and Michelle Donaldson, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is further survived by 3 brothers; Edward, Thomas (Velma), and John Ellis Pegues, and 4 sisters;Melissa Smith, Bobbie Goolsby, Mamie Jennings, and Patricia Pegues, nieces, nephews and friends, especially Alfred Barry. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and 2 sisters. Funeral Services will be Friday July 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. in Greater St. Luke Baptist Church 1326 State St. Rev. J.A. Pipes officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive guests on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. in Strouf Funeral Home, and on Friday in Church from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
