MINOCQUA, WI Dennis Michael Blessinger 63, passed away November 29, 2011 in Minocqua. He was born June 23, 1948 in Racine, the son of John and Virginia (nee: DeGroot) Blessinger. Dennis graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1966, and was a graduate of St. Norbert College, and the University of Wisconsin- Madison. Survivors include his daughter Emily (Matt) Spencer, a son Colin Blessinger, granddaughter Annabelle Spencer, his ex-wife Sally Blessinger, his mother Virginia Blessinger, brother John Blessinger, 3 sisters; Theresa (Joe) Christoffel, Cecelia (Darrell) Hoffman, and Virginia Kroll. He is further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and many dear friends. Preceded in death by his father, John Blessinger, grandparents Herbert and Josephine DeGroot, and Louis and Grace Blessinger,and several aunts and uncles. Dennis was a devoted father, grandfather, husband, son, brother, and uncle who will be greatly missed. He was known for his witty sense of humor and generosity. He loved to cook and spend time with family and friends. A Mass of Intention will be celebrated on Saturday May 19, 2012 at 8 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church the corner of Erie and St. Patrick St. in Racine. Dennis did not wish to have a traditional funeral. He requested that family and friends gather instead to celebrate his life with a party. A memorial celebration will be held in his honor on Saturday May 19, 2012 at Cliffside Park on 6 Mile Road, east of Douglas Ave. in Racine from 2-8 pm. God said you were getting weary so He did what He thought best; He came and stood beside you and whispered, “Come and rest!” You bade no one a last farewell, not even a good-bye. You were gone before we knew it and only God knows why. ;
