Carol J. Kern, 84, of Racine passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017 in The Villa at Lincoln Park. Carol was born February 12, 1933 in Racine, the daughter of Alfred and Lillian (Nee: DeRosier) Aiken. She married William Kern in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Racine on July 11, 1955. William passed away on August 30, 1984. A member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Carol enjoyed playing bingo, building puzzles and spending quality time with family and friends. In her younger years, she loved to crochet and knit and adored her 2 poodles D.O.G. and Mickey. She will be deeply missed by her 3 children Daniel Kern, Suzanne (Dennis) Shenkenberg, Annette (Mark) Gronholm, along with 7 grandchildren, Nicholas, Kevin, Shane, Ashley, Heather, Courtney and Dana. She will also be missed by her 4 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Cameren, Gianna and Jace with other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Carol was proceeded in death by her parents, husband William, 2 brothers John Marvel and Donald Aiken and 1 step-grandson Michael Rieckhoff Jr.  Funeral services will be held Monday, February 27, 2017 at 2 pm in Strouf Funeral Home. Deacon Steve Kramer officiating. The family will receive guests Monday, February 27, 2017 in the funeral home from 1 pm, until the time of service. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
