Carmen Canizales Orta passed away peacefully at Ascension Hospital on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at the age of 84. She was born on July 15, 1937 in San Antonio, TX, the daughter of Ancencion and Eustolia (Nee:Castro) Canizales. Carmen met the man of her dreams in Daniel Orta, Sr. and their loving marriage blossomed for over 67 years. They were blessed with 6 children: Daniel Jr., Juan, Irene, Paul, Lydia and Ernestina Orta. They came and settled in Wisconsin. She worked for many years at St. Mary’s Hospital in housekeeping until her retirement. Carmen was a loving and kindhearted person, she enjoyed cooking for her family. She was great Mother and Grandmother. She loved and treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved going to bingo and out to dinner with her daughters. She found great joy in listening to her Tejano music while sitting on the front porch with her sons and daughters. San Antonio was a place to spend quality time with family, be it going to flee markets, fiestas or just grilling out with lively family conversations and music. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Carmen is survived by her children, Daniel (Lucy) Orta, Jr., Juan Orta (MaryJane), Irene (John) Coca, Paul; (Maria) Orta, Lydia (Jeff) Stevenson, Ernestina Orta (Juan) along with 25 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sisters Josephine Moya, Guadalupe Ramos and Eustolia De Haro all from San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Daniel Orta, Sr., sisters Maria De La Luz Guzman and Concepcion Ortiz. Service for Carmen will be held privately per Carmen’s request.
