Paul Anthony Segura Sr., 56, of Racine, passed away after a long battle with diabetes while surrounded by his family on August 7th, 2021 at 6:25 PM. Paul was born on April 17th, 1965 to Christina Segura and raised by her and his father Tommie Kelley Sr. He was the oldest of seven boys. Paul was a part of the Class of 1983 at Horlick High School. On November 3rd, 1982 his only son Paul Anthony Segura Jr. was born. He also adopted and raised his daughter, Cassandra McNeal. On May 24th, 2008, Paul proudly saw his son marry Amber Segura and on May 25th 2014 Paul married the love of his life, Lisa Marie Segura (Lipari). He played football and wrestled for Horlick and won a National Championship as a defensive tackle for the Racine Raiders in 1988. Paul worked at Racine Unified School District for 28 years before retiring. He coached wrestling at Case High School. He was a defensive line coach for the State Championship Park High School football team. Paul was the biggest sports fan, especially cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, Milwaukee Brewers and Wisconsin Badgers. He was overcome with joy watching the Milwaukee Bucks bring home the championship trophy this season. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, always entertaining with hospitality, jokes and stories. But his absolute favorite thing to do was to spend time with his grandchildren: Trevion Williams, Ariana Marie Segura and Paul Anthony Segura III. There was nothing that brought him more joy and comfort. He loved his brothers: Tommie Kelley Jr., Timothy Kelley, Michael Kelley, Benito Kelley, Rudy Montoya and Shane Montoya. His nieces and nephews were a major focus of his life and he loved them all. “Uncle Paul” as he was known to many, truly went above and beyond to be sure that they had a fun childhood. He was a father figure to many including his brothers and especially to niece Rachelle (Ryan) Eilers and nephew Tim Kelley. He was treated as a brother by his uncles and countless cousins but was the closest with cousin Arnie Palacios and Uncle Jesse (Linda) Segura. Paul was known as a family man, but there are many that considered him a friend. Some of his best friends were Eddie Garza, Billy Contreras and Felix Mireles. Paul was preceded in death by his mother and father, grandmother Felipa (Helen) Aguillen, Grandfather Porfirio Aguillen, his unborn son Anthony, good friends: Jim McDougal, Marco Rodriguez and Joe Garcia along with many aunts, uncles, cousins. He is survived by his wife Lisa, son Paul Jr, daughters Cassandra and Amber, sister-in-law Kristina (Rick) Onyon, mother and father-in-law Joe & Connie Lipari, grandchildren, his brothers and many uncles, an aunt, cousins and friends. He is now at peace with no more pain or hardships. He is free and he is smiling. Please celebrate life every day, the way Paul lived. The family will receive guests on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Strouf Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and again, on Friday, August 13, 2021 from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the funeral home. My deepest sympathy to all of Paul’s family and friends.
Thank you for the condolences.
My codolences to Lisa and the segura family Paul is a great friend/brother to me and it is very hard knowing he is gone. He was loved by all he also was there for his family and friends that needed Help. There are many memories I will remember of Paul as we grew up in life and also worked with him for many years at Racine
Unified school district. Where he also was a relief engineer/head engineer at many schools through the district he made many friends and cared about his job very well, most important part he cared about the children where he was at and that the school was open and clean and safe for them and the staff! Then he moved on to become a warehouse/food service truck driver for RUSD. Paul was a proud man husband and a dad and a grandfather , what he had done and accomplished in his lifetime for his family and friends. I want to thank his family for sharing Paul’s life with us. God-bless R.I.P love you my brother
Rest in peace Paul. One of the nicest Raider players that we worked with for many years.
My sincere condolences to the family.
To the entire Segura family: I offer our deepest condolences to you all. My fondest memory of Paul was him and his cousin Arnie rolling up on their bikes to come and hang out with my cousin David. I remember thinking that Paul had the darkest eyes I had ever seen! He always had a quick smile and was a gentle giant. May he rest in eternal peace.
My condolences to Lisa and the family. Especially Paulie, you have an amazing father. Who did our RASA proud! As my little brother’s friend, I would be inspired by the stories they shared. As a workplace community activists I relied on facts of reputable peoples opinions, your dad had no problem sharing his honest opinion. He told it to me straight! As I battled for a better today.
As Mexican male he had CORAZON! something Rasa knows about and the rest only experience, lol. I did not attend his many parties but I enjoyed learning about them through others. What I admired about your father was, he may have had physical disabilities due to the complications of diabetes but he did not let it drag him down. When you are called answer the phone someone on the other end needs you, do what they ask you to do,right away, how they want you to do it. I’m glad,i was reminded of that value. caz see tomorrow is not promised so find time so u can live with no regrets. I so loved Paul’s jokes and facial expressions I could not help but laugh. Last, I loved your dad because he was my little brothers friend, and man the bond friends have with my brothers is like no other, like I said Rasa. he raised a wonderful son, that is my daughters friend. Paulie I remember when your dad said she’s going on the trip with my son, she will be safe. Do u remember Mexico? Oh my! But yes she was safe and created wonderful memories and stories to laugh with. Segura family thank you continue to love, laugh and live.
RIP Paul for you showed us what God has ready for those who love him.here on earth as it is in heaven.
On behalf of the entire Racine Raiders Football Club, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Lisa, and the rest of Paul’s family.
Our condolences to the Segura family sending prayers your RIH Paul
