Johnnie Mae (Nee: Hayes) Manke, age 68, passed away at her residence on Saturday, April 6, 2024 in Racine. Johnnie was born on May 21,1955 in Minter, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Willie and Laura (Nee:Hayes) Pope. She was employed as an environmental service worker for the hospital. On October 31,1998 in Chicago, Il she was untied in marriage to Elliot Manke. When she wasn’t working, Johnnie loved to relax at home watching tv, favoring crime and murder mystery shows.
She took extreme passion in taking care of home, and loved and cherished the time she got to spend with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Elliot, two sons, Starsius(Alexis) Barnes and Jamie(Clarissa) Barnes, fifteen grandchildren, Starsius Jr., Honesti, Mi’Staria, Stariah, Saiim, Saeliana, Jodi, Jayceon, Saige, Legend, Kashton,Loveli, Liamnai, Lluvia,and Leon. Johnnie will also be missed by her three sisters, Annette Johnson, Valerie Johnson, Shauna(Lorenzo)Brown, two brothers, Kenny and Ervin Pope, the father of her children, James Barnes, as well as nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Johnnie is preceded in by her parents, Willie and Laura, one brother , W.D. Johnson and one sister , Theresa ‘’Wee-Wee” Johnson. The family will receive guests to celebrate the life of Johnnie on Friday, April 26,2024 from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at Strouf Funeral Home in Racine.
