Dolores Sorensen (née Sustachek), age 96, departed for her eternal home on the night of June 21, 2025, in Racine, Wisconsin, with anticipation and assurance of being with the Lord.

Born on January 10, 1929, in Racine, Wisconsin, Dolores lived a long and meaningful life rooted in faith, family, and compassion. She was a sweet and thoughtful mother, grandmother, and friend who held her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her family and friends close to her heart.

She was united in marriage to Clayton Sorensen on May 20, 1950, at Holy Name Catholic Church. She was employed by Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company as an operator before embarking on her true career as Mother where she devoted herself to raising her five children.

Dolores was preceded in death by her beloved husband Clayton Sorensen in 2005; her parents; her brothers Richard and Ken Sustachek; her son-in-law Mark Zubrod; and one great-grandchild Markiss Hollins. She is lovingly remembered by her children Debbie Sorensen, Gelene Zubrod (the late Mark), Michael (Marie) Sorensen, Larry (Cheryl) Sorensen, and Nancy (Al) Clausen. She is further survived by thirteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister-in-law Helen Sustachek of Lancaster, California, along with several cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. Her legacy continues through her loved ones and all those whose lives she touched.

Throughout her life, Dolores had a special passion for animals, especially horses—and enjoyed riding in her younger days. Her love for others was evident through her long-standing card ministry; she never missed a birthday or holiday, faithfully sending cards that brought joy to many. In later years, she found deep spiritual fulfillment through studying the Bible daily. Her relationship with Jesus Christ grew ever stronger as she spent time in prayer and reflection.

Her life was a testament to quiet strength, enduring love, and unwavering faith. As Scripture reminds us:

“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” —2 Corinthians 5:8

A special thanks to the Compassus Home Health team for their compassion and kindness during our mother’s end life stage.

May the memory of Dolores bring comfort and strength to all who knew and loved her.

A public viewing will be on Friday June 27, 2025, from 10am-11am at the Chapel at West Lawn Memorial Park.
