It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Paul Jakubowski, who left us at the age of 61. Despite the special challenges of Down syndrome, Paul lived a vibrant and fulfilling life, finding unique ways to communicate his love and joy, including his signature thumbs up. Paul joined the Trudeau family 47 years ago when Donald and Helen Trudeau took him in as a foster child. From the moment he arrived, he blended seamlessly into out family, bringing with him a sweetness that was unmatched. After Donald’s passing, Paul’s brother and sister-in-law, Martin and Barbara Trudeau, lovingly took over his care, ensuring he remained an integral part of our lives. Paul was a gentle and patient soul who found immense joy in family gatherings, especially dinner time. His love for sweets was only surpassed by the sweetness of his own spirit. He was a constant presence at his sister Allie’s softball games, always cheering her on with his quiet strength.
For many years, Paul worked with Career Services, where he made many friends and left a lasting impression with his dedication and warmth. In his free time, he enjoyed watching The Three Stooges Movies and Packer games, also spending hours coloring, activities that brought him peace and Happiness.
Paul was more than just a family member; he was a beacon of love and kindness. His gentle presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever remain in our hearts. He was, and always will be, one of us. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Helen Trudeau. He is survived by his caretakers, brother and sister-in-law, Martin and Barbara Trudeau, and “sister-nieces” Allie, Angela and Erica, along with the rest of the Trudeau family.
Rest in Peace, dear Paul. Your legacy of love and joy will continue to inspire us all. Rest in God’s embrace.
