Mother Ada Mae Howard, 97, of Racine, WI., went home to be with the Lord on September 27, 2024.  She was surrounded by family, in the comfort of her home.  Ada was born on July 6, 1927 in Como, Mississippi to Cephus and Luella (Bailey) Hammond.  After her mother’s passing, Ada was raised by her step-mother Sallie Mae (Perry) Hammond.  She confessed her life to Christ at a young age at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Senatobia, Mississippi.  On August 4, 1945, Ada was united in marriage to the late Jack Howard in Como, Mississippi.  In 1954, the couple relocated to Chicago, Illinois in the pursuit of a better life.  She connected with Reverend Faison, who’s ministry was started in her home on the southside of Chicago.  Sher later joined Kneeway Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Bass.  After the passing of her husband, Ada moved to Racine, Wisconsin, where she joined New Omega Baptist Church, where she served on the Mother’s Board, Women’s Ministry, Choir and Missionary.  She remained a faithful member of the church even as her health declined.  She truly loved her pastor and first lady Richmond and the new Omega family. 

Cherishing her loving memory are: 8 children: Mary Cole, George Howard, Jacquelyn Williams-Maddox, Maudella (Robert) Bond, Annette (Andre)  Davis, Diane Kimbrough, Marion Howard and Margaret (Robert) Kloss all of Racine, WI; a daughter-in-law, Janet Howard of Harvey, Il.;

66 grandchildren: Cynthia, Wanda, Clarence, Angelique, Jeremy, Yolanda, John Jr., George, Jr., Paris, Derrick, Quay (Carmen), Ormono, Napoleon, Nicholas, Nicola,Nova, Terrence, Sylvia (Maurice), Tamica, Passion, Fontreece, Nysiah, Qualandas, Quinada and Lorenzo of Racine, WI., Lashon, Nico, and Jaylen of Kenosha, WI., Noah, Noble and Niles of Waukegan, Il., Tiwan (Kenyatta) of Milwaukee, WI., Kwami of Oshkosh, WI., Ronald Jr. of Green Bay, WI., Latronya (Calvin) Glendale, AZ., Stephanie (Antonio), Sheila (Maurice), Larry (Nathalie), Sheilda (Kenyatta), Tony, Darnell, Yolanda, Yolinda, Ieasha, Bionca, Terel and Jasmine of Chicago, IL., Laquetta (Darrel), Janet (Michael), Chitona (Lovell) of Harvey, Il., Carolyn and Chimmone of Rockford, Il., Taron of Washington, DC., Jazmine of          Savannah, GA. and Mason of Las Vegas, NV.; 187 great-grandkids; 157 great-great-grandkids and a great-great-great-grandchild; a sister Josephine (Bemis) Puryear; 2 brothers: Taylor (Cassie) Hammond of Memphis, TN., and James Hammond of Oceanside, CA.; along with a host of nieces,    nephews and friends.

She was proceeded in death by her loving husband, Jack Howard; parents, Cephus and Luella Hammond, step-mother Sally Mae (Perry) Hammond;     4 daughters: Robbie Boyd, Pecola Blanchard, Dorothy Howard and Doris Howard; 3 sons: John, Nathaniel and Jack Howard, Jr. and a stepson, Clyde McGee; 4 grandchildren: Tashondus, Jermaine, Robert, Jr. and                  Nathaniel, Jr.; 6 great grandchildren; 3 son-in-laws: Dwight Maddox,       Lamard Cole and  Eugene Blanchard; 11 brothers and 12 sisters.
