It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Silvia A. Gonzalez, who passed away on September 2, 2026, at the age of 88.
Born on June 21, 1938, in Cotulla, Texas, Silvia was a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother whose love, strength, and presence touched the lives of many.
Silvia shared a beautiful legacy with her beloved husband, Tomas Gonzalez. Together, they were the proud owners of Gonzalez Club, building a place and a name that became an important part of their lives and their story. Their hard work, dedication, and love for bringing people together created memories that will last for generations.
Those who knew Silvia will remember the things that made her uniquely herself. She had a love for cooking, and nobody could ever forget her famous tamales—made with love and remembered by so many who were lucky enough to enjoy them.
She also loved Tejano music and knew how to have a good time. Through Gonzalez Club, she hosted dances and gatherings that brought family, friends, and the community together. The music, laughter, dancing, and memories made at those gatherings became a special part of her legacy. Those who were there will never forget the good times she helped create.
Silvia had a special love for her dogs, who were cherished companions and held a special place in her heart. If you knew her, you knew how important they were to her.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Tanya, Mauricio, Gabriella, Georgiana, Giselle, Juan Metz-Rodriguez Jr. (Andrew), Tino Rodriguez, and Rachel Rodriguez; and her daughter-in-law, Elvia Rodriguez. She also leaves behind her beloved great-grandchildren: Miani, Ali, Massiah, and Shateek Jr.
Silvia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tomas Gonzalez, her mother, Pas Campos, father, Nativdad Arabelo, her sisters and her son, Juan Rodriguez.
Though our hearts are broken by her absence, there is comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with those she loved and lost before her.
Her famous tamales, the music she loved, the dances she hosted, and the laughter she shared will forever live in our memories. Like a beloved song, Silvia’s love and legacy will continue to play in our hearts long after her final dance.
Until we meet again, Grandma Silvia, you will always be in our hearts.
Visitation will be held at Strouf Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 pm. Funeral services to follow at 7:00 pm, officiated by Deacon Eric Sewell. She will be laid to rest privately at Graceland Cemetery with her husband, Tomas, at a later date.
