Lilia Martinez, 86, of Racine passed away Tuesday May 2, 2017 in Aurora Medical Center-Kenosha. She was born November 9, 1930 in Laredo, Texas, the daughter of Conception and Eluteria Martinez. A migrant worker, Lilia worked many fields starting in Texas until she reached and settled down in Racine. Lilia enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, playing Bingo and cooking every Sunday as her family gathered together.  She will be deeply missed by her 6 children Maria Martinez, Consuelo (Juan) Garcia, Esperanza Padilla, Irma Sanchez, George Gutierrez and Belia Rodriguez along with 29 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren and 35 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by 1 brother Jose (Francisca) Martinez and 2 sisters Belia (Jose) Palacios and Yolanda (Davile) Diaz-Ortiz. Lilia also leaves behind nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her parents, 3 children Lilia, Sylvia and Arturo, 1 grandson Angel, 1 great-granddaughter Esperanza and 1 great-great grandson Jacob along with 2 brothers and 2 sisters. A funeral service will be held for Lilia Monday, May 8, 2017 at 11 am in Strouf Funeral Home. The family will receive guests on Monday May 8, 2017 in the funeral home from 10 am until the time of service. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.  The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the Aurora Medical Staff and Hospice staff.
