Joan Genevieve Goers, 86, of Racine, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017 in her home. Joan was born October 10, 1931 in LaPorte, Indiana, the daughter of Benjamin and Ruth Alberta Downey Griffin. She married Charles Robert Goers in LaPorte, IN on January 1, 1951. He passed away January 25, 1997. She worked for Racine County Human Services. Joan loved to garden, watch old movies and travel. In her younger years she loved to bowl, and she enjoyed making quilts and blankets for the veterans. Joan had a passion for sports, she loved her Cubs, Brewers, Bucks, Badgers, Notre Dame and the Packers, especially her guy, #4, Brett Favre. She is survived by two children, Todd (Dawn) Goers, Terri (Thomas) Bowman, eight grandchildren, Jason(Jill)Robinson, Airen (David Templeton), Melissa (Jeff Flanders), Christopher(Amanda)Goers, Jamie Robinson, Nicholas Robinson, Megan Goers and Jared Goers along with eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Ron (Mary) Griffin, Tom Griffin and one sister Mary Manring. She is preceded in death by her parents, Husband Charles, one brother John, Sister-in-law Helen and niece Deborah Griffin. A funeral service will be held for Joan, Thursday, November 2, 2017 in Strouf Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m. The family will receive guests on Thursday, November 2, 2017 in the funeral from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park.
